Claret Publications to distribute “In the Footprints of Our Faith” in Asia and Africa

Sep 18, 2023

Saxum International Foundation and Claret Publications (Hong Kong) have reached an agreement to distribute a special edition of ‘In the Footprints of Our Faith’ (the English translation of ‘Huellas de nuestra fe’) throughout various countries in Asia and Africa.

The book was originally launched in 2016, in Spanish and English, as an electronic publication and as a printed book, distributed through the Saxum Visitor Center and print-on-demand services. In subsequent years, the authors added two chapters: one about the place of Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River and another about the Pool of Bethesda. They also incorporated new graphics, maps, and photos. At the same time, they added new translations: Italian, Polish, German, Portuguese, French, and Korean.

Since 2018, the publication has been offered in two versions: regular and extended. The second one includes photographs and details of the pilgrimage to the Holy Land that Blessed Álvaro del Portillo made in March 1994, shortly before his death. This content is geared towards the faithful of Opus Dei, its cooperators, and those who have devotion to Blessed Álvaro, and so it is omitted in the regular version.

The new edition for Claret Publications, corresponding to the regular version, will only be available as a hardcover printed book. The authors have developed an executive-sized design (178 x 254 mm), with the text distributed in two columns across 272 pages. The result preserves what ‘In the Footprints of Our Faith’ has offered to its readers from its origins: it is a useful resource for those preparing for a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and for those who wish to relive it afterward, once they have returned home.

Claret Publications has a very active presence in Hong Kong and Macao thanks to its editions of the Bible in Chinese. In fact, it has previously collaborated with Saxum in the translation of ‘Pórtico de la Biblia’ into Chinese and its subsequent distribution. As part of the Claret Publishing Group, they will make ‘In the Footprints of Our Faith’ available in bookstores in Hong Kong, Macao, Manila, Bangalore, Colombo, Dar Es Salaam, and Yaounde. At the same time, the book will continue to be available for pilgrims at the Saxum Visitor Center store.
