There are many ways to help. This is the story of how Saxum can make long-distance friendships possible.
“One day, I was scrolling through Facebook on my phone, and a plea for help from a friend caught my eye: in German, Italian, and English, she asked for someone who might be able to proofread an English academic document. This friend, who is an Italian living in Germany, needed a PowerPoint edited for an English conference in Spain, fast. Since I proofread English as a job on the side, I messaged her right away, saying I’d be happy to help, but the fact that we were living in two different countries made the question of payment tricky, especially because I didn’t want to charge her a lot as a friend. Thinking fast, I asked her if she knew about the Saxum project, sent her a link to the Italian donation page, and told her I’d be happy to go without payment if she could make a small contribution to Saxum. She replied right away, saying that she had heard about Saxum both in Italy and in Germany, and she promised to donate an amount to Saxum in exchange for the editing.
